I suffered an AVM rupture at the age of 25 that sent me into a coma and on a ventilator. My family was told to prepare themselves as it appeared I was not going to survive. I went into emergency surgery and had my rupture repaired. I awoke from my coma 3 days later but spent the next 3 weeks in the ICU. Once off all of the meds my last 3 days in the hospital I was taken around the hospital with a physical therapist as I needed assistance to walk again. Fast forward, I had my one year follow up MRI 2 years ago and showed no remaining issues. I have lost jobs, lost parts of my vision, memory, months of speech therapy, the list goes on. But I’m still breathing and get to wake up everyday, and that’s all that matters.
