Philadelphia Chef Chooses Chicago’s Respected Publican Quality Meats to Host Major Awareness Event for new Brain Aneurysm Research Foundation

For the Second Year in a Row, Philadelphia Chef Chooses Chicago’s Respected Publican Quality Meats to Host Major Awareness Event for new Brain Aneurysm Research Foundation

Publican Quality Meats has been chosen, for the second year in a row, to host on Wednesday June 10th, the second annual awareness event for The Bee Foundation (TBF), a 501 (c)(3) non-profit committed to brain aneurysm research and awareness. Christine Kondra (Doherty), Executive Director of The Bee Foundation and a Philadelphia-based chef, announced the selection.

“The success of our event here last year resulted in Chicago being named our first “Champion City,” says Kondra. “We couldn’t be more pleased to be returning to share some of the highlights of our first year as a Foundation – more than $120,000 raised, and our first grant award for innovative research about to be announced.”

Last year’s event set the bar in local fundraising, and Kondra says that with Executive Chef Paul Kahan at the helm, that’s no surprise. “Since we established The Bee Foundation, we’ve been overwhelmed by the support from so many great chefs including Paul Kahan of One Off Hospitality (Chicago), Jamie Bissonnette of Toro NYC, Toro Boston and Coppa; Gabriel Frasca and Amanda Lydon of Straight Wharf Restaurant and Ventuno (Nantucket); Greg Vernick of Vernick Restaurant (Philadelphia); Brian Ricci of Brick and Mortar (Philadelphia). We’re also thrilled to have Cisco Brewers (Nantucket) — for the second year– as one of our most generous supporters.” Says Kondra, “We love the unique atmosphere offered by the Publican. There’s nothing better than being able to have Chicago’s greatest chefs – and great friends – supporting our cause and helping us spread our message.”

Admission is free, and valet parking is included along with a special gift from TBF & Publican Quality Meats. Attendees will be able to experience Paul Kahan’s exceptional house-made charcuterie, artisanal cheeses, spicy pork rinds and duck & pork rillettes selections, as well as register for raffle prizes, to include box seats for major sporting events. Attendees will include Chicago-based Rush University Medical Center’s Dr. Michael Chen, a member of The Bee Foundations’ Scientific Advisory Board.
