KICKS FOR NICK 2023 #KFN2023

Nicholas Cordrey was a lifelong soccer player, and, more specifically, a goalkeeper. He was a beloved teammate of the Taylor High School Men’s Soccer Team and Total Futbol Academy Program in Cincinnati, Ohio. Nick passed away from an unknown brain aneurysm in June 2020, just after completing freshman year, at the age of 15.

In his short 15 years, Nick taught his family, friends, and teammates to live a life of purpose, on purpose. According to Nick’s parents, “Nick lived his life in a non-judgemental way. Even at an early age, he tried to get to know a person personally. Nick was just as kind to those that were not kind to him as he was to his closest friends.” Nick had an impact on so many lives in his 15 years, and even after his passing, he is still doing this. Nick was an organ, eye, and tissue donor who saved five lives with seven of his organs and improved the lives of at least 40-50 others with tissue donations.

Nick was passionate about many things. When he showed interest in something, he was committed. In addition to soccer, he enjoyed volleyball, and he was also a geography expert, history enthusiast, artist, honor student, and community volunteer. He loved learning about many religions and languages. He studied French at school and dabbled in Russian on his own.

It’s true that no one will ever understand why Nick only had 15 years to live his life, but Nick lived, and Nick mattered. The way Nick lived his life is why we want to raise awareness about brain aneurysms. We didn’t know he had one until he did. He would want to understand and promote early detection so that others may continue to live the life he loved so very much.

WE NEED YOUR HELP!

Help us spread brain aneurysm awareness and prevention in honor of Nick. On June 1st, we will announce Athletes for Aneurysms. We will invite you to join the fundraiser or you can start your own.

1. Post a video doing juggles, toe taps, tricks or kicks, as long as it’s for Nick!

Participants agree to post a video doing juggles, toe taps, tricks, or just a kick, on their social media feed with a caption sharing who Nick is and that a brain aneurysm ruptures every 18 minutes.

2. Nominate

Participants will nominate at least 3 friends to join in to help make sure they know the facts about brain aneurysms.

3. Donate

Participants will be invited to join our Instagram fundraiser or they can start their own, so they can add the fundraiser button directly to the post and feature it on their profile. This is essential to maximizing fundraising opportunities for research and prevention.

These kicks are in honor of a young man named Nick Cordrey whose life was taken too soon, after suffering a fatal ruptured brain aneurysm with no warning signs at the age of 15.

A brain aneurysm ruptures every 18 minutes. That is 5 brain aneurysm ruptures during every soccer game.

Please consider getting involved and helping spread brain aneurysm awareness and prevention in honor of Nick. I nominate
