Joni Mitchell makes first public appearance since brain aneurysm

In Spring of 2015, Joni Mitchell spent several months in a Los Angeles hospital aftersuffering a brain aneurysm. Reports on her condition were sparse and contradictory, though close friends said she wasn’t able to speak. Not many updates have been given since, but this weekend brought some good news about her recovery.

On Saturday night, Mitchell made her first public appearance in 17 months at a Chick Corea concert in Los Angeles. Mitchell’s official website posted the above image with the caption, “We are thrilled to see Joni out and about again!”

Though the image only provides so much insight into her condition, it’s certainly reassuring to see her making enough progress to step out into public.
