For the past 4 years The Bee Foundation has held the Headstands for Mallory campaign in honor of Mallory Brewer, a 27 year old who tragically passed away in 2016 due to a ruptured brain aneurysm. Mallory was a 2011 University of Pittsburgh graduate, where she competed as a collegiate gymnast. She “flipped” through life and really made an impact on everyone she met. In 2017, Mallory’s friends and family launched an amazing campaign to spread brain aneurysm awareness in honor of Mallory’s June birthday. Every year, we encourage everyone to go upside down to celebrate Mallory’s zest for life and challenging a friend to do the same.
This year TBF was fortunate to gain the sponsorship of US Glove, who donated $1 per headstand posted and donated equipment for the most headstands. To top it off, Olympic Gymnast and Dancing With The Stars Champ, Laurie Hernandez posted a handstand of her own and a very sincere personal message to encourage her followers to support.
Thanks to US Glove we were also able to encourage a side competition for gymnastics teams across the US.
For the gymnastics team that post the most handstands during the month of June with the hashtag #HFM2020 and tagging @thebeefoundation will win the below!
1st place: 10 Tiger Paw wrist supports (including one autographed by Laurie Hernandez)
2nd place: 10 pairs of US Glove grips
3rd place: $100 Dicks Sporting Goods coupon .
Your participation can help save lives by bringing awareness to brain aneurysms!AND THE WINNER IS… (Tune in tomorrow with the update!)
TBF would like to thank US Glove, Laurie Hernandez, and all of our gymnasts and friends who supported the spread of Brain Aneurysm Awareness in honor of Mallory. There were definitely some WOW! moments this year. We are already looking forward to what next June will bring!
