“We have a day for giving thanks. We have two for getting deals. Now, we have #GivingTuesday, a global day dedicated to giving back. On Tuesday, November 28th, 2017, charities, families, businesses, community centers, and students around the world will come together for one common purpose: to celebrate generosity and to give.”
Since 2012, #GivingTuesday has inspired giving around the world, resulting in greater donations, volunteer hours, and activities that directly influence the livelihood and mission of organizations such as The Bee Foundation.
Why support The Bee Foundation?
You’re supporting innovative research that is evidence based, targeting brain aneurysm prevention, a critical and underfunded area of research. Many medical experts in the field of neuroscience recognize this research as an urgent necessity, such as those on our Scientific Advisory Board.
An estimated 1 in 50 people in the United States have an unruptured brain aneurysm. How many Facebook friends do you have? Out of 500 friends, 10 may have an unruptured aneurysm.
Brain aneurysms are fatal in 40% of cases when they do rupture. Supporting survivors and loved ones whose lives are uprooted by brain aneurysms is important now more than ever this #GivingTuesday. It is time for our voices to be heard and get the word out about this devastating condition that can strike at any time.
Here are just a few examples of how The Bee Foundation has been fighting for further brain aneurysm awareness and funding this year:
Lobbying Congress – The Bee Foundation, partnered with Arnold & Porter Kaye Scholer law firm, continued to lobby for legislation supporting federal research funding, and a bill is currently under review in the House of Representatives. A Congressional briefing was held at the end of October, at which Dr. Michael Chen, a member of TBF’s Scientific Advisory Board, explained the importance of increased funding for brain aneurysm research.
The Honey Bash – The 4th Annual Honey Bash Gala for Brain Aneurysm Research raised over $175,000.
Research Grants – The Bee Foundation awarded two $25,000 research grants to Dr. Jennifer Kim and Dr. Justin Mascitteli to further their research projects.
