Meet the Recipients of the Inaugural TBF BEE COURAGEOUS Award

The TBF BEE COURAGEOUS Award represents someone who lives the mission of the The Bee Foundation and has taken initiative despite adversity to advance brain aneurysm awareness and research.

The Inaugural TBF BEE COURAGEOUS Award will be granted to Representatives Yvette Clarke (NY-9) and Patrick Meehan (PA-7) at this year’s Honey Bash for their congressional leadership to raise awareness of Brain Aneurysm Research on Capitol Hill with the introduction of Ellie’s Law, H.R. 1648.

Despite the widespread prevalence of brain aneurysms, the federal government only spends $0.83 per year on brain aneurysm research for each person afflicted with the disease.

Congresswoman Clarke (NY-9), along with Congressman Meehan, introduced Ellie’s Law, H.R. 1648, to the Committee on Energy and Commerce on March 21, 2017. This Bill is to provide for further comprehensive research at the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke on unruptured intracranial aneurysms. This Bill would authorize $5 million each fiscal year, for 5 years to conduct or support further comprehensive research.
