Thank you so much to all who shared in the amazing evening of September 17th, and who donated to the event. (And to those of you who missed it, we hope to see you next year!) Our third annual gala raised over $152,000—our highest yet—and we couldn’t be more grateful to everyone who made it happen.
We’d like to thank our sponsors—NBP, Vynamic, the Philadelphia Eagles, Combined, SF&C, VEBA and Edge Therapeutics — for a truly wonderful night. Close to 200 supporters gathered at the Chemical Heritage Foundation in Old City, and 20,000 people watched the evening’s events on social media. Guests enjoyed awesome food from Garces Events and Cornerstone, spirits from Cisco Brewers, and danced to tunes spun by Blue Route Entertainment. The photo booth (complete with Bee props) was a hit, emcee Joe DeCamara from 97.5 The Fanatic kept the evening lively, and the live auction items—in particular the Nantucket getaway and Beyonce concert, which 20 lucky concert-goers will watch from the Eagles suite—got the crowd as excited as we’ve ever seen.
Great news – the bidding fun will continue with our Flash Sale! Click here to view our items that are available at a discounted price and will be open for bidding NOW until Monday October 10th at 11:59 pm.
The night’s speakers inspired and informed: This year’s grant recipient Dr. Ahmed Awad told us about his search for a biomarker in people who have aneurysms, that they might be identified, and rupture prevented. Sally Freedman, our Survivor of Honor, captured us with her story about the successful detection and treatment of her aneurysm before it ruptured. And Dr. J Mocco, from the Department of Neurological Surgery at Mount Sinai and the Bee Foundation’s Chief Medical Officer, encouraged everyone that night to donate and help fund vital research. He mentioned that fifteen years ago, a grant is what really gave him his start, underlying the potential that can be unlocked when the support is there.
We are 75 percent of the way to hitting our 2016 fundraising goal of $225,000, with the goal of funding a 2017 Brain Aneurysm Research Fellow to be fully dedicated to brain aneurysm research.
