A Guide to Advocacy Day: Join Us in Making Your Voice Heard

If you’re a brain aneurysm survivor or have lost a loved one to a brain aneurysm, you understand the importance of raising awareness and advocating for change. That’s why together, with the Brain Aneurysm Foundation, we’re inviting you to join us for Advocacy Day on Wednesday, March 20, 2024. This empowering event offers survivors, caregivers, and those who have been impacted by this disease the opportunity to make a real difference in the fight against brain aneurysms. Here’s what you need to know to get involved:

What is Advocacy Day?

Advocacy Day is an annual event held on Capitol Hill with the Brain Aneurysm Community in Washington, DC, where survivors, caregivers, and advocates come together to meet with lawmakers and policymakers. Our goal is to raise awareness about brain aneurysms, advocate for increased research funding, and promote policies that support survivors and their families.

What to Expect:

  • Date & Time: Wednesday, March 20, 2024, from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM
  • Location: Capitol Hill, 1st Street SE, Washington, DC 20510
  • Registration Fee: $25
  • Registration Deadline: February 29, 2024

Your Role: As someone who has been impacted by a brain aneurysm, your voice is incredibly powerful. By participating in Advocacy Day, you’ll have the opportunity to share your story with lawmakers and advocate for change. Whether you’re meeting with your local representatives or attending informational sessions, your presence makes a difference.

Schedule of Events:

  • Training: March 19, 2024 3:00 – 5:00 PM – Arnold & Porter, 601 Massachusetts Ave, NW, Paul Porter Conference Room – 11th Floor
  • On the Hill: March 20, 2024, from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM
  • Reception: March 20, 2024 4:30 – 7:00 PM – Russell Senate Building – Rm 385

How to Prepare: Before Advocacy Day, you’ll receive materials to help you effectively communicate your message and navigate your meetings with lawmakers. Be sure to dress comfortably and bring any necessary medications or accommodations. Most importantly, come prepared to share your story and advocate for change.

Can’t Attend? Make a Difference Anyway: If you’re unable to join us in person, you can still support our advocacy efforts by reaching out to your local representative.  Please visit our Advocacy Page to learn more. As we get closer to Lobby Day and afterwards we will be keeping the page up to date with ways to continue to advocate for increased research and better policies.
